Is velvet a good fabric for a cloak?

    Velvet lays very well, and the thickness of the fabric adds good colour effect.

    It will pretty & expensive, and heavy, how about silk, its airy, light, and pretty!?or possibly fake velvet(velveteen), it looks like velvet, feels like velvet, not as heavy less expensive.

    It’s really a matter of personal preference but yes, velvet is a good choice. Hope that your cloak is also lined (satin?) as sometimes velvet will stick to your clothing and “bunch” up.
