I want it mainly for monagraming and small embroidery. I have a pfaff 2024 already, and it I like it a lot. Are there any machines out there that just do the alphbet and small designs? I don’t want to buy more of a product than I will use. Your experience will help me out!
Thanksa
I live in Germany and haven’t learned the language yet, so I can’t go to stores and ask questions. I’ve learned a lot form the answers I have gotten and they have led me to different places for research. Thanks!!

Sorry – I answered your other question first. I have a Brother 270d. It can do embroidery patterns up to 4×4 only. It comes with a set number of designs and some basic fonts. You need a PE Basic so you can use downloadable fonts. It does will not allow you to piece them together. That requires additional digitizing software. You can however space over and embroidery one letter at a time in the same hoop set. If you are looking for an inexpensive but very nice stitch I highly recommend this machine. Costco had both the machine adn PE basic on sale for $389.99

Try. They have a section on questions to ask when buying an embroidery machine. Consider the fact that you may at some stage want to be able to do more, so it may be cheaper in the long run to buy something a little more versatile.

I would suggest you go into a store where they have “professionals” or someone you can easily communicate with. Then you should look at the ease of the software and machine. I’ve been an embroiderer for only 2.5 yrs but I know a lot and I love my “mentor” and the ease of the software that I use. Beware!! Embroidery is an expensive sport; and I only say that because once you get into your “groove” (I’ve been a sewer for a long time) you just BUY BUY BUY!! Love the machine that you have; its like a bicycle, once you start riding it and getting to know your machine, you don’t want any other machine. Just remember how much you want to spend and STICK WITH IT. You may have to go to more than one store and most of the people who do embroidery and sell machines as business may know other people. Don’t get caught up in the “new fandago stuff” look around and try try try and ASK ASK ASK. If you don’t ask you don’t get and/or you don’t get the answers you are looking for.

The most important choice in buying a machine is to feel good about your dealer and the support they offer. If you choose to go with the least expensive route, you may not get the level of service and training that you need. When you find a dealer, ask them what they would do if, in say 3-6 months, you decided to move up to a more expensive machine. How much would they give you in trade? then find out about classes and service. For my money, there is no better machine than Babylock. They are so user friendly and very reasonably priced.
