Hello.
I recently purchased a Brother SE270D Sewing/Embroidery machine. I have not yet received this machine but I’m wondering what types of software are good for embroidering? I know it comes with some built-in designs, it also comes with a memory card slot, to add more.
I would like to buy one that will allow me to upload my OWN drawings and designs to embroider.
Does anyone have any idea which software I would need in order to accomplish this?
Thank you so much for your help!
Great!! Thank you both so much!!! I can’t wait to get one and get started!!

Walter Floriani has a great digitizing software. I think its the most user friendly around…you can find more information by going to his website…Have fun,

Try Brother PE Design version 7. You get a reader/writer box and a blank card so you can design your own designs and transfer them onto a blank card and use the card in the machine. The Brother software is really easy to use too.

Editing and digitizing software can be expensive and very expensive.
You do not need Brother brand software.
Embird has a free download that you can try for a certain length of time.
Also, check Buzz Tools for trail downloads.
You will also need something like this – to get the designs from your PC to the embroidery machine.

I have this machine too….The card writer and reader is for transferring designs from your computer to your machine via the card….It is not used for designing your own files…embird is one program but sew what pro is alot easier to use and also has a 30 day free trial period along with some other great embroidery software…such as sew iconz and sew art..Sew art allows you to create your own embroidery designs from a jpeg or clipart…All of which have a 30 day free trial period…
